Volume 4, 2010 For most people, the thought of the dentist’s drill and the whining sound it makes is enough to set their teeth on edge. It doesn’t get better when you’re in the bland, cramped environment typical of dental clinics, sitting in an uncomfortable chair, trying to read old magazines. The Lu Dental Clinic in Cagayan de Oro City designed by architect Edwin Uy is atypical of such settings. For one, it occupies one corner of a Goodyear Servitek High Performance Center. The façade of warm brown wood with the name of the clinic in white and matte silver reminds one of a greeted by a sleek reception desk in brushed stainless steel against a geometric wall treatment in medium brown.   The plush seating and the droplights suspended from the high ceiling maintain the boutique shop ambience. Wide glass windows facing the street bring lots of daylight in, while overhangs outside prevent direct sunlight from heating up the interiors.
